Scott has extensive public practice experience, articling in a CA firm in Mission in the mid-1970s, culminating in a Senior Manager position in a multinational public accounting firm. His experience and training is diverse. For example, he has succeeded in completing his association's tax specialty option and also was a key member of the Audit and Assurances Committee of one of his previous firms. Due to the distinctly different business and economic sectors in the various parts of the Lower Mainland that he has worked, his experience covers virtually all industries, including farming, manufacturing, sales and service in addition to charities and societies. Sam completed his University studies at the University of the Fraser Valley, majoring in accounting and achieving an outstanding GPA that culminated in making the "Deans List". He promptly completed the Certified General Accountant Program, finishing all the courses within a year. This was a significant accomplishment as the program was designed to take approximately 30 months. During his time in the program, he challenged two exams and received honours on his final. He continued his passion for personal and corporate taxation by taking the CPA profession's in-depth tax course (the most comprehensive, practical and relevant income tax training in Canada) as well as several advanced taxation and estate planning courses and applying his knowledge to existing clients. With over 10 years of public practice experience he has been able to obtain a broad knowledge in accounting through working with a variety of clients.
